This 1734 King George II halfpenny was recovered in central Connecticut with a metal detector. Two-dimensional archival digitization methods were employed using a DSLR camera and lighting setup.
The coin was likely perforated by the famers who owned the site from which it was recovered. In colonial times, large copper coins were often converted into objects like washers and pendants.
