Maker's Mark
Maker's Mark
This c. 1800 American cufflink was recovered in central Connecticut with a metal detector. Two-dimensional archival digitization methods were employed using a DSLR camera and lighting setup.
Further research concluded that the cufflink was hand-engraved with the intersecting initials "S.W." The maker's mark was documented but has not been successfully identified.
The provenance of the item may be traced back to two individuals: Stephen Whitmore (1746-1835) and/or Stephen Whitmore Jr. (1776-1865), both of Middletown, Connecticut.
